There are many opportunities in our area for outdoor recreation. Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort, and many back-roads for for hiking, biking, fishing, ATV/UTV travel are a few of the amenities right out our back door. Hawthorne is a patriotic and peaceful town. Duties & Responsibilities: Under the direction of a supervisor, conducts armed patrols, mounted and on foot. Stands post at designated locations, carries out instructions, primarily oriented toward insuring that emergencies, security and safety violations are readily discovered and reported to appropriate authority. Intervenes in situations that require action to safeguard property or persons. Duties require training in the use of firearms, less than lethal intervention, and various other security procedures. Receives guidance from the Guard Operations Manager. Responsibilities: • Conducts armed patrols, mounted and on foot, of the Hawthorne Army Depot. Insures the integrity of the Hawthorne Army Depot and the security of real and personal property, as well as stored assets. • Stands post at designated locations, including entrance and exit points for the Hawthorne Depot. Assures that all practices and regulations pertaining to access to the Depot are complied with. • Makes written and oral reports to alarm room personnel, supervisors or other designated persons. • In accordance with established procedures, responds to dispatches, alarms, and observed situations to insure the security of the Depot property and personnel. Serves as first responder to cordon off/contain an area during spills and discharges which may contain hazardous substances. • Monitors and directs the operation of motor vehicles within the Depot.
