The Virtual Job Fair for Marines is underway, and will be held on July 18th and 19th. At the end of this mail I am going to ask for some specific help, which should not overload your day. We invited over 60 companies to participate, only a few have declined. We searched for and invited companies with jobs across the country. Our invites include three railroads; 7 truck companies; major local support companies including Target, Home Depot, and Walmart. We have a good selection of companies who support the Marines with equipment and services: GDIT, Cummins Diesel, AM General, Lockheed Martin, Oshkosh, CACI, Microsoft, and Booz Allen. Jobs on the company career websites (I looked at all of them) are good jobs suitable for Marines of all grades, both technical and managerial, with promotion opportunities and benefits. When I last discussed the job fair with you, a few weeks ago, I said that the Marine Executive Association would host a Virtual Job Fair for Marines in July. Not a lot of details - here's the latest. The web site went up for employers a month ago. The web site went up for Marines last week. HQMC sent the announcement to all bases and organizations, active and reserve, MEA and our partners advertised through the social media, MEA links and our ever effective Marine MEA network, including M4L and WWR. By late last Friday over 250 Marines had visited the site, 1/3 signed up to participate. Signups are predominantly Mid Grade enlisted (E7) and junior Officers (O3). Sixty percent have college degrees, or are working towards a degree. They are searching for jobs in 24 states. Seventy-Five percent reported availability July 31st, +/- 45 days. This is the target audience we hoped to provide to the companies, and I am confident that the number of Marines and Corpsmen will reach the 500 we planned for. We have offered a price discount for early signup, which expires on June 17th. I expected more. Has your company signed up yet? How about a company that you know should participate? Help or information I can use: • How effective has been our advertising campaign to Marines? Did the word reach the Battalions / Companies and Squadrons? Does the Cpl know? • Is there a company I may have missed with an invitation? Please let me know with a point of contact. I will use your name as an introduction. • Because I am certain that we will follow this Virtual Job Fair for Marines with others, I am building a data base of Companies and contacts. A major help to getting our Marines hired is finding the right person within the company. I am looking for the Marine in the company who can bring to management's attention the Marine's value based on their work attitudes and experiences. Send me the companies and the Marine POC, I will follow up. Lets take care of our own.
